students designed to increase student awareness
of their surroundings and potential threats to public safety..

Designed for upper Key Stage 2 and lower Key Stage 3 students (students aged 9 - 14).Workshop Details
• Supported by Facesid.com the Community Safety Awareness Workshops are designed to increase students awareness of their surroundings, develop knowledge and understanding of the local Police support and improve personal and public safety. • Each workshop lasts approximately 2.5 hours and caters for up to 30 students per session.Workshop Content
• Students will be presented with a scenario where their role is to solve a crime. The experience of solving the crime • committed will present a number of scenarios and increase their awareness of several areas including: o Safe use of Social Media and other digital content. o Personal awareness of their surroundings. o How to access Police and Community Safety services. o Steps to ensure personal and public safety. o Understanding the role of a witness and valuable observation skills.
At one point during the workshop students will be selected to play the role of a witness. They will be presented with a scenario
where they observe a scene and they have to remember an individual's characteristics to recreate a digital representation using Faces
TM
.
Participants Outcomes
• Participants become more aware of their surroundings are able to identify threats to personal or public safety. • Participants are able to identify the risks involved in improper use of Social Media. • Participants know who to contact if they witness any suspicious activity and when to call 999. • Participants are able to describe characteristics of people they meet or observe. • Participants gain knowledge around the consequences of a criminal record.School Outcomes
• Schools are provided with free software exceeding the value of £10,000 in order to repeat the workshops internally as often as required. • Teachers are provided with the experience and resources required to repeat the Community Safety Awareness Workshops. • Schools can raise awareness of consequences for Anti-Social BehaviourCommunity Outcomes
• Increased community safety through improved public awareness of potential threats. • Improved witness accounts for Police incidents. • Improved Public/Police relations and reduced unnecessary 999 calls
